Banana chips: 4 Ingredients & no sugar

I recommend preparing two or three batches of banana chips – so you have enough to snack on them for a few weeks. They can be perfectly stored in an airtight-container for 2-3 weeks. The best thing about them is that they consist of such simple ingredients, that you would definitely have them at home. There are no flavor enhancers – 4 simple ingredients and you can enjoy a delicious snack. Also we do not add any sugar. At the same time the chips turn out naturally very sweet: cinnamon added to bananas caramelizes in the oven and gives a lot of natural flavor to the chips. One serving is very low in calories – under 150 calories, so you can definitely enjoy them during a movie night or in the afternoon. If you like to have some yogurt with fruit for breakfast or an afternoon snack, you can add banana chips to add extra crunchiness.

If you snacks and want to have a healthy diet, check my other recipes. For example healthy pizza – incredibly tasty, but lower in calories. Or different ice cream recipes – healthier and lower in calories (Oreo ice cream, healthy apricot ice cream, chocolate ice cream and vanilla ice cream with thin chocolate layers).

Ingredients

  • 570 g banana*
  • 7 g lemon juice
  • olive oil
  • 0.75 tsp cinnamon

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 120 C.
  • Peel 570 g of banana and cut into slices.* The slices should not be too thick, because then banana chips will not bake through and not be too thin – in this case they will not be chewy. And the best part of this recipe is that the chips are crispy outside and chewy inside. The slices should be around 4-5 mm.
  • Grease baking sheet with olive oil and place banana onto baking sheet. Mix 1-2 g of olive oil with 7 g of lemon juice and brush bananas with this mixture. Sprinkle with 0.75 tsp of cinnamon.
  • Bake for 2 hours and 15 minutes in the oven at 120 C / 245 F. After 1 hour and 30 minutes, turn the bananas. Open the oven 2-3 times during baking, this way you will let the moisture out of the oven.
  • Turn off the oven and leave bananas in the closed oven for 1 hour. Take out banana chips and let chem chill for 15-20 mins.*

Tips & hacks for the recipe

*This amount of banana would make around 2 batches.
*This recipe is very healthy and simple, but it takes some time to bake. I recommend making 2-3 batches or more. You can keep banana chips in a closed container for several weeks.
*As you take the bananas out of the oven, they will still be a little bit soft. If you let them chill for around 20-40 minutes they will turn crispy.
