How to cook basmati rice How to cook basmati rice: fluffy or sticky. Your choice.

You have to know how much water, salt and rice you add to make it tasty, quick and easy. This recipe has a perfect rice to water ratio, so you can be sure that nothing burns or that you do not have to add water or salt during cooking.
This recipe gives you 2 options – you can make sticky or fluffy rice – it all depends on your taste and what you want to use the cooked rice. If you want fluffy rice, add some olive oil after the water starts to cook and if you want your rice to be sticky, do not add any oil.

Ingredients

  • 250 g basmati rice*
  • 310 g water
  • 4 g salt
  • 10 g oil optional*

Instructions

  • Take 250 g of basmati rice and wash it several times in clean water (rinse at least 5 times).
  • Pour 310 g of water over the rinsed rice and add 4 g of salt. Bring basmati rice to a boil over high heat, stir the rice. In this recipe rice turns out sticky – if you want your rice to be fluffy, add 10 g of olive oil once the water starts boiling (optional).
  • Reduce the heat to a minimum. Cook for 20 minutes with the lid closed. Do not open the lid.*
  • Turn off the heat and leave basmati rice on the stove. Leave it without opening the lid for 20 minutes. Then mix with a fork.*
  • Check my fried rice recipe based on cooked basmati rice – it is so tasty and full of protein – perfect for meal preparation.

Tips & Nutrition Facts

Tips

*This amount of dry basmati rice turns into 600 g of cooked rice
*It is very important to cook basmati rice under a closed lid – this way it turns very soft and tasty.
*I mix it with 2 forks, because this rice is cooked without oil and rice sticks together. To make it fluffy you can take 2 forks and separate basmati rice from each other.
