nutrition Vegan hot chocolate: Perfect vegan protein intake.

This hot chocolate recipe is very creamy, thick and easy to make. If you are vegan and really care about protein intake you can make this  chocolate and reach your protein goals with its help. One serving is high in vegan protein and low in calories. The secret ingredient that makes this chocolate high in vegan protein is silken tofu – it is important to use it and not regular tofu.

Vegan hot chocolate

The mix of seasonings (cocoa powder, cinnamon, vanilla sugar) give this hot chocolate a very delicious taste and silken tofu makes it thick and creamy. It is very important not to boil chocolate during preparation or during warming up (if you store it in the fridge), because this can ruin the taste and hot chocolate could taste bitter. Gently warm it up and whisk it – so you can enjoy its amazing thick taste.

This hot chocolate recipe is a perfect snack, if you want chocolate, but do not have any time to bake or do not have any chocolate at home. You do not need chocolate itself to prepare it, just some cocoa powder and spices. If you like chocolate recipes, check my chocolate crepes. They are so delicious, easy to make and low calorie. Or vegan brownie – no eggs, no diary and so quick.

Equipment

  • 1 Blender

Ingredients

  • 340 g silken tofu
  • 400 g water
  • 1 ½ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 50 g cocoa powder
  • 80 g maple syrup
  • 1 tsp vanilla sugar
  • a pinch of salt

Instructions

  • In a blender mix 340 g silken tofu, 1 ½ tsp cinnamon, 1 tsp nutmeg, 50 g cocoa powder, 80 g maple syrup, 1 tsp vanilla sugar and a pinch of salt.
  • In a pot bring 400 g of water to a boil. Add 200 g of boiled water to tofu cocoa mixture and blend everything together. Take a pan off the heat. Add cocoa-tofu mixture. Whisk well. Do not boil!!! This is really important, because if you boil tofu cocoa mixture, this will totally ruin your hot chocolate. Warm up a bit, on a very low heat. While warming up, continue whisking.
