The perfect quick high protein snack!

Yogurt with granola is a delicious and very quick snack. I love making it, when I want something sweet, but at the same time try to keep my diet healthy and full of nutrients. It takes a very short time to prepare: if you use ready-made granola, then it is around 10-15 minutes.

Why is yogurt and granola healthy?

Yogurt with granola is a quick and very healthy breakfast or dessert. First of all it contains a lot of protein. Following this, if you eat yogurt and granola for breakfast you feel full for quite a long period of time. Obviously it helps a lot if you want to lose weight or just maintain a healthy weight. Second, by eating granola, that contains whole grains you add complex carbohydrates to your meals. They take longer to digest and help to control blood sugar level. Besides, granola based on whole grains is a great source of fiber and vitamins and minerals.

Homemade granola or store-bought granola?

I like to use homemade granola for this recipe. It has a benefit, that you control what ingredients you add to it and have a chance to make it healthy and low in sugar. Store-bought granolas are high in sugars. I am using only a little bit of natural sweetener in my recipe and this way one serving has a healthy amount of sugars. Furthermore store-bought granolas often contain hydrogenated oil that is very bad for our body. I prefer adding sources of healthy fats to granola: nuts, seeds, coconut oil. If you are looking for a granola recipe that is rich in protein, but does not contain any protein powder, check my protein granola recipe. It is low in sugar and perfect for meal prepping. Craving chocolate granola? I have developed a homemade chocolate granola recipe – again low in sugar and just a few ingredients.

Feel free to add any granola you like to this recipe – even store-bought. Cherries and melted chocolate are amazing with any granola and yogurt of your choice. Want to know how to choose a healthy store-bought granola? To pick a good and healthy granola is pretty easy – some basic aspects to consider and ingredient to look for are on my pick a healthy granola list.
