Chocolate granola: super crunchy & simple ingredients

Chocolate granola with healthy ingredients at home? Easy to make! For this recipe you just need 3 very simple ingredients: oat flakes, maple syrup and chocolate. I am using dark chocolate with 90% cocoa, but you can use any time you want. Milk chocolate contains more sugar and is less healthy, but the amount of chocolate we are using in this recipe is not very high. I recommend using oat flakes that are not soft and quick cooking. You need oat flakes, that need some time to cook, because we want our granola to be crunchy. If you use soft, fine oat flakes, they will not get the crunch we want.

  • 90 g oat flakes I used spelt flakes. Use large flakes, that have to be cooked to prepare, not fine oat flakes
  • 36 g maple syrup
  • 20 g dark chocolate*

Prepare chocolate granola first:

  • Fry 90 g of oat flakes in a dry pan over medium heat (no oil), stirring constantly (until the grains are crunchy). This takes about 10 minutes.
  • Add 36 g maple syrup. Mix well, fry for another 5 minutes. Place in a dry container.
  • Chop 20 g of dark chocolate. Add chopped chocolate to the hot granola and mix quickly. Let chocolate melt.
